1990: Jockey Willie Carson became only the third man, after Gordon Richards and Alec Russell, to ride six winners at one meeting.
1998: David Beckham was sent off as England were knocked out of the World Cup on penalties by Argentina in the second round.
2002: Ronaldo scored twice as Brazil won the World Cup for the fifth time, beating Germany 2-0 in the final in Yokohama.
