Gloucestershire Youth League: New boys Almondsbury enjoyed a fabulous start to the season with a 6-0 win at Cadbury Heath.

Four goals by Ashley Knight, plus efforts from Josh Stawrowski and Josh Graham, handed Almonds a convincing start against last term's GFA Under-18 Shield winners.

Fellow necomers Oldland Abbotonians also kicked off with an away win, beating Thornbury Town 2-0.

They rode their luck early on, however, as Thornbury hit the the woodwork three times and forced keeper Tom Reid to pull off two fine saves.

Jed Kendal put Oldland ahead against the run of play on 21 minutes when he touched home a curling free-kicky from Sam Winfield. Kendal turned provider to set up Sam Lee to score the second goal just after half-time.

Last season's bottom club, Longwell Green Sports, battled to a creditable 3-3 home draw against Cheltenham Saracens thanks to goals from Josh Carter, Ciara McCalla and Jack Sealy netting their goals.

Jamie Shore Soccer International Under-13s got their Midland Junior Premier League season off to a flier with an impressive 6-0 victory over Yate Town at Clifton College.

Goals from Marcus Rankin, James Fisher and Tom Summerhill gave them a 3-0 half-time advantage.

Rankin and Fisher were on target again in the second half before Lloyd Dodge put his name on the scoresheet by heading home Matthew Baker's corner to wrap up a terrific win.

JSSI Under-12s won their debut game in the league, beating Yate Town 5-2.
