Warning: Allow more time for journeys to Bristol International Airport
North Somerset Council is starting resurfacing work on Monday, which will see a main road to the airport closed.
The work extends from the junction with A38 to Brockley Combe Road by Coombehead Farm.
This means there will be no access to the airport from the A370 from Monday for the five days needed to complete the work.
North Somerset Council's deputy leader and executive member for highways, Councillor Elfan Ap Rees, said: "We have scheduled these works outside the busy summer holiday to try to minimise disruption.
"We do need to carry out this work and there will inevitably be some delays.
"I would ask travellers going to Bristol airport and other road users to allow extra time for their journey."
There will be a signed diversion rerouting traffic along the B3133, through Congresbury and Churchill, and the A38.
Access to businesses will be maintained and 'business open as usual' signs will be erected to help with this.
Mr Ap Rees said: "We need to close the road so resurfacing some of the carriageway and also adjusting gullies and manhole covers can be carried out.
"We have been in close contact with the airport so they know what we are doing and suggesting ways they can make those travelling to the airport aware of the work.
"We are asking people to plan their journeys carefully and avoid the area if possible."
The work is costing £10,000 and being carried out by contractor Balfour Beatty.
