AWARD-winning actor and comedian Rob Brydon will head an all-star line-up at Colston Hall to raise funds for the Bristol Slapstick Festival.

Tickets go on sale today for Stand Up For Slapstick, which will take place at Colston Hall on May 20.

Hosted by the acclaimed Gavin and Stacey star, Stand Up For Slapstick will feature some of the biggest names in comedy including Rob Brydon's Would I Lie To You? co-panellist Lee Mack; one of Britain's top female stand-ups, Shappi Khorsandi; Time Out Comedy Award winner Boothby Graffoe and Henning Wehn, who styles himself as Germany's UK Comedy Ambassador and is a regular contestant on BBC Radio 5 Live show Fighting Talk.

Slapstick festival director Chris Daniels said: "Both Rob Brydon and Lee Mack are in such high demand with screen work these days that neither of them has any plans for live tours this year. So to have them on the same bill in Bristol is an incredible coup for Slapstick, and further proof of the high regard in which top comics hold our festival. Adding Boothby, Henning and Shappi to the line-up guarantees not only an unmissable night out, but also one that should mean our tenth festival, in January 2014, is the best yet."

The event is being staged to ensure that Bristol's internationally-acclaimed Slapstick festival of comedy is able to mark its tenth anniversary in style next year, despite rising costs and the reduced availability of sponsorship and grants.

Slapstick is Britain's leading festival of silent and vintage screen comedy. It began in 2005 and this year's event, held last month, featured four days of shows, including a gala presented by leading comic Victoria Wood.

Tickets for Stand Up for Slapstick are on sale from today from the Colston Hall box office on 0117 922 3686 or at www.colstonhall.org
