Clevedon Town go out to bustling Brackley

CLEVEDON TOWN 2 BRACKLEY TOWN 4: Clevedon missed out on the chance of an FA Trophy run as visiting Brackley enjoyed a two-goal victory.

The hosts had both Josh Brigham and Ben Evans back in their starting line-up after suspension but it made little difference to the end result.

The visitors took a 12th-minute lead when Brigham was adjudged to have brought down Mark Rawle in the box, with Ben Mackey scoring from the resulting spot-kick.

Clevedon were on level terms 12 minutes later with a good first-time strike from Craig Loxton, but the visitors' lead was restored two minutes later when Chris Wilmott headed home.

Mackey was denied by a good save from home goalkeeper Danny Greaves in the 32nd minute, but he was beaten by Dave Joyce's shot on the edge of the box five minutes before half-time.

Brackley were reduced to 10 men in the 68th minute when skipper Craig McIlwain was sent off after clashing with Aaron Blakemore, and the home side got themselves back in the game 11 minutes later with a penalty from Matt Walsh after Josh Green had fouled Jamal Easter.

Brackley restored their two-goal advantage two minutes later, though. Greaves did well to turn a free-kick from Tom Winters onto the post, only for Rawle to shoot home the loose ball.
