Reaction from City fans to Saturday's victory

Monday, August 31, 2009, 07:00

IT was a dramatic finish but, to be honest, I thought it was a thoroughly deserved win.

It was a tight game all the way through. I thought the penalty was harsh but you see them given.

We couldn't play much worse than we did on Wednesday.

It was a poor performance (against Carlisle) and even the fans and the management admitted to it, but that is the way to answer it.

That was a proper, determined, professional performance so hats off to the players.

Andy Baker, Hartcliffe

IT was a tremendous second half and I thought Maynard's finishing was Premier League class.

I think he looks a lot stronger now and he has adjusted well to this division.

Paddy, Southmead

AFTER Wednesday night, the effort City gave was fantastic. We defended from the front and on the second half performance we definitely deserved to win. Maynard is looking a different player this year without a shadow of a doubt.

I thought it would be 1-1 after the penalty. Before the penalty I couldn't see Middlesbrough scoring second half. Gerken didn't have a save to make. We showed a lot of character.

Tommy, Southmead

WE were all worried that Leroy Lita would come back to haunt us. I didn't agree with the fans booing him because he scored a lot of goals for us. He looked very lively at the start but after that he didn't seem interested.

The best striker was Nicky Maynard. You have to say that.

Pete, Ashton

I AGREED with the team changes. We had a much more competitive midfield with three in there and we didn't allow Boro time on the ball. Hopefully we can get the ill players fit but I don't think Johnson should change the team.
