Bristol City fan's view: QPR game saw some excellent football
Nicky Maynard and Danny Haynes were excellent and linked up very well. Their speed, quick interplay and willingness to close down the opposition defence really caught the eye. Paul Hartley was excellent and if Marvin Elliott can find his best form then we will have a midfield pairing to rival anything in the Coca-Cola Championship.
Cole Skuse once again looked very comfortable at the back before a calf injury forced him off and Lewin Nyatanga looks better in every game. We are still to see the best of Dave Clarkson and at the moment he looks as though he is unsure of how he fits in the team.
QPR contributed to a fast, flowing, open game of football and but for a couple of great saves from Dean Gerken could easily have left the Gate with a share of the spoils if not all three.
Gerken's form has meant that Adriano Basso's decision not to sign a new contract and seek a move elsewhere has not had a major impact on the team. Basso may have to re-think his decision as currently no firm interest has been shown in the Brazilian shot stopper.
Nicky Maynard deservedly took the plaudits for his third goal in as many games and is now starting to make more of the City faithful sit up and believe that he could be the 20 goal a season striker that the club has so desperately needed for the last few seasons.
Playing with the lightening quick Haynes will benefit Nicky and personally I hope we don't sign a 'big un' as it means we don't have the obvious option to hit it long, which we had a tendency to do when Dele Adebola was in the side.
There was a downside to Tuesday night's victory, which was the loss through injury of Andrius Velicka.
Unfortunately, Bristol City didn't really get a chance to see much of the Lithuanian before he damaged his cruciate knee ligament, ruling him out for the rest of the season before it really even started.
Best wishes go to Andrius for his recovery.
