This is Bristol

There is every reason to think that we have a great chance to bring the World Cup to Bristol.

And we must all believe it.

We can often be too quick to decry our city and dismiss its ambitions.

But this is the time when we need to think and speak positively.

We need to talk up the positive aspects of life here and what our city can offer.

It would surely provide an excellent base for one of the World Cup groups in 2018.

And regardless of who they support, every football fan here would love to see the greatest football tournament in the world come to town.

Of course, it can only do so if we have a stadium fit to host World Cup games.

The new stadium planned for Bristol City would be ideal. In fact, it is crucial to the success of Bristol's bid.

Without it the FA would not consider Bristol for an instant.

That is why it is important for the city council to get behind the stadium plans.

They have to look upon it not as simply a new ground for Bristol City but as a tremendous asset to the city as a whole.

Sometimes in the past, squabbling between politicians has cost us dear.

That cannot be allowed to happen this time.

What is needed is for everyone, regardless of their political colour, to get behind the stadium plan.

Being involved in the World Cup will bring in millions of pounds to the local economy.

It will give everyone in the city new confidence and help to drive other projects forward.

This is not simply about football, it's about all aspects of Bristol life.

So go to our website, follow the links to the FA's poll and vote for Bristol to be a World Cup city.
