REGARDING Filton Airfield, can anybody think of a city, other than Bristol, where a runway suitable for flights in any weather, of a distance equal to anywhere the London airports fly, with two major motorways and railway access very easily set up, will be torn up, and small, expensive houses built?

We need to do a Manchester-get the local Authorities together and create an area which will not only create employment but also avoid the dreaded journey home from far afield Airports.

Remember the tram system, exhibition centre, concert arena. Bristol has none. It's time to change.

“Filton is in S.Glos not Bristol. The S.GLOS lot want to build houses from one end of the runway to the other and down to the M32. A lot of Council tax that! Especially as the main services are in Bristol!!!!!”

“I totally agree with this. It is utter madness to destroy the airstrip. Apart from anything else it indicates a total lack of confidence in the future of the aerospace industry. There are a hell of a lot of people totally against the decommissioning of Filton but we are the small guys without wads of money and almost powerless to do anything. But wait... there are still two live petitions and a Facebook page outlining the proposals and the short sighted greedy developers' plans to turn it into a huge barren housing estate with no trees.

    Petition 1: http://tinyurl.com/aaa3gn3
    Petition 2: http://tinyurl.com/akhszom

    Facebook Page: http://tinyurl.com/bk4y7fh

Please, Please don't just think 'Oh well, never mind' Sign the petitions 'cos at the moment there are very few signatures - probably because no-one knows they exist.
