Stoke Lane's battlers hit back to claim first victory
For the first time this term, they had a full complement of players and substitutes – and the whole team started with a positive attitude.
They had to earn their first win of the season the hard way, however, as Ryan McKean and Joe Stedman put Made For Ever 2-0 up after 25 minutes. But they rolled up their sleeves and hit back with excellent goals from Joe Love, Ollie Power, Adam Elvin and Tom Murray. Both keepers, Matt Beauchamp and Mike Perham, distinguished themselves with penalty saves.
An injury-time goal by Matt Day saw Cheddar Albion pip league newcomers Yatton Athletic 4-3.
Visitors Yatton looked lively from the start and a shot from Dominic Sausen was pushed on to the bar by Joe Cowell, but a quickfire double from Ryan Bishop put Albion into a 2-0 half-time lead.
Yatton bounced back with a Tom Chandler double and Dan Walter gave them the lead midway through the second half. With time running out, Cheddar equalised through Day and the same player broke away to score a dramatic winner deep into injury-time.
Ashton Boys defeated Priory Rangers 1-0 with an 85th-minute penalty, while goals from Brandon Matthews and Ahmed Tawardi, both deflected first-half efforts, saw Roman Glass St George to a 2-0 win at St George Easton in Gordano.
Easton dominated the rest of the match and created numerous opportunities, with James Moseley, Ellis Whiting and Kyle O'Donovan showing up well.
Tom Burke, Max Cooper and substitute Ryan Brown were on target for Yate Rangers, who went down 4-3 in a thrilling match at Hawkesbury in Division A. Josh Vaughan led the Hawkesbury scoring with a hat-trick, while Will Massey netted their other goal.
Hanham Athletic lost for the first time this season, beaten 3-2 at home by Olveston United, who extended their unbeaten run to three games.
Callum Carter (2) and Nick Dyer netted for Olveston, with Jason Hallett and Ed Parnell (penalty) replying for Hanham. Hanham had two players sent off in quick succession in the second half, one for a two-footed tackle, the other for foul and abusive language.
Vandad Shahebrahimy (2), Will Jarvis (2), Joe Thompson and Isaac Elliott shot Bishopston United to a 6-2 victory at Mangotsfield United, Izaak Ellis scoring both Mangos' goals.
Matt Parramore's 81st-minute penalty, after Ethan Bulmer had been clattered into by the opposition keeper, gave Yate United a 1-0 win over Ingleside.
Jack Povey had a mixed afternoon for Cutters Friday as he scored twice and was sent off for a heavy tackle in their 3-0 win at AXA. John Donegan was their other marksman.
