Two in court over Bristol fire murder
Two men have appeared in court charged with murder following the discovery of a man's body at his burned-out Bristol flat.
David Hughes, 44, was found dead at his second-floor flat in Stapleton Road, Easton, last Wednesday evening after the blaze.
A post-mortem examination on Saturday confirmed Mr Hughes's death was "due to assault".
David Norman, 39, and Nigel Griffin, 32, both from Bristol, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning.
The case was sent to Bristol Crown Court for a hearing on October 14 and the pair were remanded in custody.
A third man arrested as part of the investigation has been released without charge.
Part of the Castle Park area of Bristol was cordoned off on Sunday night, with a search carried out as part of the ongoing investigation which involved a 10-strong forensic team.
