Bristol's top councillors will be taking part in a Question Time-style event next week.

It will give people a chance to ask and debate important issues facing the city.

The panel will include council leader Barbara Janke, pictured, Tory group leader Richard Eddy and Labour leader Helen Holland.

There will also be a senior police officer on the panel which will be hosted by an independent chairman.

It will be held at the Council House on Thursday, October 15 from 7.30pm to 9pm.

The event will be broadcast live on the internet at www.bristol.gov.uk/webcast and will include online participation.

Earlier, from 5pm to 7.30pm, there will be a drop-in event at the Council House to explain how people can get more involved in local decision-making.

This "Participation Village" event is a chance to find out how members of the public and local organisations can work together to make Bristol's community and the city a better place to live and work and how you can play your part.

During the afternoon, from 3pm to 6pm, people can find out how the council works and what councillors do.

There will also be a tour of the Council House.

A stall will be held in The Mall, Broadmead on Friday, October 16, where members of the public will find information and advice about getting more involved.

Admission is free for the events at the Council House but the Participation Village and Question Time events must be booked by applying online at www.bristol.gov.uk/localdemocracyweek or by phoning 922 2848.
