A Ferrari owner has donated a miniature version of his sports car to help raise money for the Variety Club children's charity.

The owner of the bright red car, who does not wish to be named, said it will be sold to the highest bidder at a charity auction at the Marriott Royal Hotel in Bristol on Sunday.

The miniature F430 is battery operated with forward and reverse gears and a top speed of 3mph – 193mph slower than its big brother.

Entertainers including Eddie Large, Fred Wedlock, Dave Pitt and Dave Hook aim to amuse and delight guests at the auction.

Comedian Eddie Large will compere the show and is to conduct the auction to keep the bids rolling in.

Rod Steward impersonator Dave Hook will keep the 200-plus audience entertained with his tribute show to the Scottish-born rock star.

Fred Wedlock, who had a chart hit in 1981 with the single Oldest Swinger In Town, is well-known on the local scene as a raconteur and folk singer.

He will bring his own brand of humour to the evening.

To keep the laughter going, stand-up comic Dave Pitt completes the line-up of entertainers.

Bristol Rovers commercial director Barry Bradshaw said: "The miniature Ferrari is a fantastic and very generous donation that we hope will help to raise lots of money."

The late Bristol pianist Russ Conway was a great supporter of the Variety Club which has been raising tens of thousands of pounds for local charities over the decades.

The programme on Sunday starts with a bucks fizz reception at 12.15pm for 12.45pm and will end at about 5.30pm.
