Who came up with the idea to house sex offenders at Ashfield Prison, Pucklechurch, near Bristol?
BACK in November the Scottish inspector of prisons suggested that too many sex offenders were being released without the appropriate checks made.
Now I see that the Government wants to put serious sexual offenders down in South Gloucestershire as a cost effective measure.

The Ashfield Prison near Pucklechurch is just a couple of miles outside of Bristol.
Does the Ministry of Justice really think that 400 or so sexual predators and downloaders of child porn in this part of the country is a good idea?

No, it's just imprisonment on the cheap run by Serco – another private company like G4S.
Unless I'm very much mistaken these criminals don't serve full sentences anyway, so what does the government plan to do with them once they are released?
Housing and community services are already stretched in the greater Bristol area. Not to mention the release figures by Avon and Somerset Police that show we already have sexual predators living all across the area!
I fear it is an unpalatable truth that sex crimes are on the increase. If so what does that say about us as a society? A prison full of paedophiles and rapists. What quango-esque-insular-ministerial- homogenised-tight wad-thicko came up with that idea?
