Bristol lawyers' triathlon challenge raises £10,000

Wednesday, October 21, 2009, 07:00

Lawyers from Bristol have raised £10,000 for good causes by competing in a triathlon.

Six representatives of national commercial law firm Beachcroft LLP, based at Portwall Place, have raised the sum for Salisbury-based charity Hope and Homes for Children by competing in the St James's Place Foundation Triathlon.

The ultra-fit lawyers had to swim 400 metres, cycle 20 kilometres and run a gruelling five kilometres to complete the endurance test in St Albans, Hertfordshire earlier this month.

Mark Cook, the founder president of Hope and Homes for Children, received Beachcroft LLP's cheque for £10,000 from Mike Bothamley, the company's regional senior partner at its Bristol HQ.

Mr Bothamley said: "Not only are we delighted to be able to support the efforts of Hope and Homes for Children, but we are also able to join forces with two of our most important clients, Zurich Insurance and St James's Place, who are long and committed supporters of Hope and Homes for Children."

Mark Cook OBE said: "The £10,000 cheque will help to change the lives of some of the world's poorest children."
