Rap trio the Wrinkly Rappers from Burnham-on-Sea have helped to raise more than £1,200 for charity.

The Wrinkly Rappers, who are planning to record a Christmas album, entertained shoppers at the Morrisons Pier Street store while collecting money for Weston Hospicecare.

Their efforts on October 18, saw the group raise £1,280 for the hospice, which treats about 1,100 people a year with life-limiting illnesses.

Brenda Brooks, 56, aka Wrinkly Rapper B'n'B, said: "We performed a few of our raps and it's lovely to see the looks on peoples' faces when they see us. We did attract quite a bit of attention, which helped the collection, including some youngsters who came and joined in with us."

Brenda joined up with Marian Bowers, 66, also of Burnham, and Belinda Marks, 46, of Bridgwater, to form the Wrinkly Rappers last year.

The trio got together after hearing a couple of young girls who said older people 'were not cool' and didn't understand younger people.

Now they perform the Wrinkly Rap and other songs at day care centres and for charity events.
