Gunning for Christmas No.1? Bristol's Wrinkly Rappers

Saturday, October 17, 2009, 08:00

The Wrinkly Rappers from Burnham-on-Sea are producing their first album, including a Christmas hit to raise money for charity.

Trio Brenda Brooks, 56, Marian Bowers, 66 – both of Burnham – and Belinda Marks, 46, of Bridgwater, got together last year.

Their raps started as a reply after listening to two young girls, who made up a rap about older people, saying they were "not cool and did not understand the youngsters".

Since then, because of audience demand, the rappers – aka B'n'B, Snowy and Baby Bel – have been hard at work.

B'n'B has written other raps and the alternative crew has performed their raps to raise money for charity.

They even auditioned for Britain's Got Talent, but did not impress the judges during the second audition round in Cardiff.

Now the group is working on an album with proceeds to go to charity.

They said: "We are well excited and working hard to get an album finished in time for Christmas.

"The music for the Christmas Rap, called Unrapped At Christmas, is almost finished, and the album cover is being designed by a great guy in London.

"We are learning some well cool moves to go with the new raps.

"Proceeds from the album will go to help support Alzheimer's Research Trust, a really well worthwhile charity.

"Watch this space for when it will be available. Yo!"

The Alzheimer's Research Trust is the UK's leading research charity for dementia.

It is dedicated to funding scientific studies to find ways to treat, cure or prevent Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, Lewy Body disease and fronto-temporal dementia.

The trust does not receive any Government funding, and instead relies on donations from individuals, companies and charitable trusts, money raised by individuals and gifts left in people's wills to fund its vital work.
