Brilliant Butterflies


Did you know butterflies can taste with their feet? Discover the amazing world of these colourful insects as we spend a morning butterfly spotting on the Downs. In the afternoon create your own fabulous caterpillar or butterfly sock puppet.
10.00am – 3.30pm £7.50 per child (children will need to bring their own packed lunch).
Run in conjunction with Avon Wildlife Trust for children aged 8 – 12 years.

Ape & Cake Event at Bristol Zoo Gardens


Bristol Zoo Gardens is holding its first Ape & Cake event to celebrate the 26th birthday of the Zoo’s resident silverback gorilla, Jock.
The event, on Sunday May 31, is an opportunity to enjoy tea and cake at Gorilla Island while hearing a gorilla talk from the keepers. Visitors will also have a chance to meet the keepers and ask questions.
The Zoo’s family of six gorillas – Jock, Salome, Romina, Namoki, Kera and little Komale - will also be given a special birthday cake as a treat for the occasion.
The event is a fundraiser for Bristol Zoo’s 2009 ‘Year of the Gorilla’ campaign.

Bristol Festival of Nature at Harbourside


Join Bristol Zoo and a host of other organisations at the UK’s largest celebration of the natural world. Located at Bristol’s historic harbour, the Festival of Nature gives all the family a chance to explore, enjoy and get close to the natural world.
