Bristol zoo launches wild ad campaign

Saturday, April 18, 2009, 07:00

Bristol's buses are about to get a lot scarier – with a larger-than-life lioness on the back of them to advertise Bristol Zoo.

Two double-decker buses now show an Asiatic lioness roaming around Temple Meads station, as do two buses in Cardiff.

The 13ft adverts were designed by Bristol creative agency 375 as part of the zoo's 'Animals in the City' campaign.

The zoo also has a new delivery van which has been covered with another eye catching design.

It features a western-lowland gorilla mother and baby perched on top of a building looking down over Bristol city centre, with a gibbon swinging in the background.

Heather Holve, head of marketing and PR at Bristol Zoo, said: "It's great to see such striking images around the city. It's certainly great to see people's reactions – they really turn heads!"

Bristol Zoo's 'Animals in the City' campaign has previously received a national creative award – a bronze award in the 'Best Outdoor Campaign' category in the 2008 Fresh Awards, which aim to recognise creative talent outside the M25.
