Five crews tackle Speedwell blaze

Friday, October 31, 2008, 22:52

Five firefighting crews were needed to tackle a blaze at a scrapyard in Deep Pit Road, Speedwell, at 4am on Thursday.

A timber shed and a number of old vehicles and tyres were burned in the fire, which also damaged a bus parked in a nearby depot.

Firefighters were able to prevent it spreading to the rest of the depot and to cylinders containing 50 gallons of kerosene.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
