Weston college library staff spread the fund-raising word

Wednesday, October 07, 2009, 07:00

Staff and students at Weston College have raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

For the second year running, the library staff at Weston College took part in the charity's Biggest Coffee Morning, selling books and coffee.

The aim was to raise money to sponsor counsellors and nurses who work to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families.

Both the Knightstone and University Campus libraries raised more than £142.

Louise Hutson, learning resources assistant at the University Campus, said: "The library staff of Weston College would like to thank everyone who donated their time and money."

The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan's flagship annual fundraising event held in September and raises more than £7million.

Across the country, and in several other parts of the world, thousands of people hold or attend coffee mornings to help those affected by cancer.
