Weston Operatic Society cash is music to the ears of Barnardo's

Saturday, October 31, 2009, 07:00

Children's charity Barnardo's has received a welcome boost from actors after they staged a musical in Weston-super-Mare.

Weston Operatic Society performed The Likes Of Us, Andrew Lloyd Webber's first collaboration with Sir Tim Rice, at Weston Playhouse in July.

The musical is being performed by theatre groups around the UK and tells the story of Dr Thomas Barnardo and his campaign to rescue destitute children in 19th century London.

A collection at the Playhouse generated £1,200 for the charity, which was presented to the Worle Barnardo's.
