North Somerset road closed to fix a wall
North Somerset Council says the closure is needed to replace the wall along the road at Langford Brook, Blackmoor, Lower Langford.
The £200,000 scheme is being completed by C A Blackwell Contracting on the council's behalf from July 27 for ten weeks.
North Somerset Council's executive member for highways, Elfan Ap Rees, said: "We found the retaining wall at Langford Brook, Blackmoor, Lower Langford was in a poor condition. We have decided to replace a 140m length of the wall.
"The work will entail closing the road, apart from pedestrian access, as replacing the wall will involve the removal of up to two thirds of the supported carriageway."
A diversion will be in place via Wrington and the A38 and there are already advertisement signs on site.
Residents have also been notified by letter. Rubble from the existing wall will be used to construct the parapet of the new wall.
Steve Makin, a council spokesman said: "Road users are asked to be patient while this essential work is carried out."
