Poor start for Gloucestershire at Northampton

Gloucestershire hit trouble at Wantage Road after captain Alex Gidman won the toss and chose to bat against Northamptonshire.

Kadeer Ali (nine), William Porterfield (25) and Hamish Marshall (12) all perished as the visitors slipped to 57 for three, before recovering to 78 for three at lunch, with Gidman undefeated on 24.
