Gloucestershire bowler Kirby receives penalty points for bowling beamer

Saturday, June 06, 2009, 07:00

Gloucestershire fast bowler Steve Kirby has received three penalty points for a breach of the ECB's discipline code.

Kirby was reported by umpires Rob Bailey and Vanburn Holder for bowling an accidental high, full-pitched delivery against Glamorgan in the Twenty20 Cup on May 27 – an incident which resulted in the paceman being barred from bowling further in the innings.

It was his second beamer of the match, and the three penalty points will remain on his record for two years.

The accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two-year period results in an automatic suspension.
