Bristol drug addict grew cannabis in sitting room
Nasser Khan had 49 cannabis plants flourishing in his Bedminster home when police officers mounted a raid.
The 36-year-old, of St John's Lane, Bedminster, also had a 60g bag of dried weed.
He pleaded guilty to one charge of producing cannabis and was given an 18-month community order with a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement at Bristol Crown Court.
Mary Cowe, prosecuting, said the crop of 49 cannabis plants was found growing in Khan's sitting room by police who carried out a raid on May 5 last year.
She said the room was taken up with growing the plants, which had grown to more than a foot high, and nearly 60g of the dried outlawed drug was also found in the property.
Catherine Spedding, defending, said her client pleaded guilty and had since been assessed as suitable for receiving help to kick his drug habit.
Sentencing Khan, Judge Martin Picton said: "I'm not sure I would have taken the view the last judge did but it doesn't really matter now. This case is serious enough for a community order."
