Ex-Bristol Rovers striker Walker signs for Burton Albion

Wednesday, July 01, 2009, 11:02

Former Bristol Rovers front man Richard Walker has signed for Coca-Cola League Two club Burton Albion.

Walker, 31, who spent last season on loan at Shrewsbury has joined Albion on a two-year deal after five years on the books at the Memorial Stadium.

He made more than 150 appearances for Bristol Rovers and scored more than 50 goals for the club but was surplus to the Pirates' requirements when his contract came to an end this summer.

Albion manager Paul Peschisolido told the club's official website: "I am absolutely delighted to get a player of Richard's experience.

"He has got an excellent goalscoring record and played at a much higher level and he is a really nice lad.

"Richard will undoubtedly add to what we have already got and he will definitely improve us."
