Blizzard thinking over proposed move to Bristol Rovers

Wednesday, July 01, 2009, 07:00

Bristol Rovers are hoping to learn today whether they will be welcoming Dominic Blizzard on board for next season.

The 25-year-old midfielder had talks with the club yesterday and the Pirates are understood to be optimistic that they can land the player, who is out of contract at Stockport County after two seasons with the Hatters.

But they are also aware that they face competition for the former Watford man.

A string of other clubs have also been linked with interest in Blizzard, including Championship outfits Blackpool, Plymouth Argyle and Scunthorpe United.

Rovers' League One rivals MK Dons and Huddersfield Town are also thought to have been trailing the 6ft 2ins player, who gained some experience in the Premier League during his time at Vicarage Road.

If he agrees on a move to the Memorial Stadium, Blizzard would become Rovers' second summer signing after they landed defender Carl Regan from MK Dons last month.

They are in the market to bolster their midfield after releasing Craig Disley at the end of last season.

Meanwhile, Rovers have again dismissed reports linking Huddersfield with a move for last season's 29-goal top scorer Rickie Lambert.
