Jazz plays all the right notes in Bristol Union's seven-goal win
On a boggy pitch both teams tried to play a passing game but found it tough going.
But for some resolute defending the score at the end of the first game could have been more than the 1-0 handed to league leaders Union by Leah Tutton's well-taken effort.
Union piled on the pressure in the second half and further goals came from Jazz Williams (3), star player Maddie Mather (2), Alex Douglas and Hayley Venus.
Bradley Stoke were rewarded for their enthusiasm and effort with a consolation goal.
Portishead Juniors A Under-12s were made to battle hard for their 4-1 away victory over a spirited Backwell Athletic side.
They struggled to overcome their hosts to begin with before the introduction of Jennie Mistry sparked the breakthrough. She picked the ball up on the right before running into the box and driving a shot high into the net.
It was a shame for Backwell as outstanding goalkeeping by Kathryn Howells, and robust defending from Ele Moss, Lucy Hickling and Sarah Wilson, had kept the free-scoring Portishead attack at bay.
But they recovered well from the setback early in the second-half when the quick-thinking Amy Hynam equalised with a long-range effort that sailed over the keeper's head.
Straight from the resultant kick-off, Maisie Kincaid restored Portishead's lead as she skipped past two defenders and calmly rolled the ball past the advancing home keeper.
Despite the efforts of Jen Atherton, Ellie Richards and Shannon Holloway to win the midfield battle for Backwell, Portishead hot-shot Annabelle Colston weighed in with her 47th league goal of the season before her strike partner, Taylor Gainey, finished off the scoring to claim her 36th league goal.
Backwell Athletic Under-12s fielded a clutch of younger players in a 7-2 friendly defeat against a Portishead Juniors side comprising A and B squad players.
Grace Arnall opened the scoring for Portishead, only for their opponents to deservedly equalise following a spell of pressure.
Gainey increased Portishead's lead before their A squad captain, Ellie Grey, notched a quickfire brace from an unfamiliar left-midfield position.
Backwell then scored a contender for goal of the game with a volley following a corner kick, although Charlotte Joyner made her own claim with a long-range lob which sailed over the keeper into the net.
Joyner grabbed her second goal for Portishead before team-mate Colston predictably completed the scoring.
