SOMERSET COUNTY LEAGUE: A half-time dressing down from manager Micky Tanner prompted Shirehampton's second-half goal spree as they won their Somerset County League Premier game 6-2 at Cutters Friday.

Richard Hewitt and Dan Griffiths had given Shirehampton a 2-0 lead, but two Lee Dixon goals pulled Cutters level by the interval.

However, Hewitt completed his hat-trick in the second half, while Griffiths grabbed another and Lee Riches completed the scoring.

Backwell United are in third spot after a 3-0 victory over Paulton Rovers Reserves. Kevin Taylor made it 10 for the season with a second-half hat-trick.

Bridgwater Town Reserves moved into third place with a 3-0 victory at Castle Cary, while Brislington Reserves slumped to their second successive defeat as they went down 2-0 at home to Bishop's Lydeard.

Nailsea United now have five teams below them after their 4-1 home victory over bottom club Timsbury Athletic.

Top side Cheddar maintained their two-point lead with a 4-1 win over Glastonbury Town.

In Division One, table-topping Stockwood Green maintained their five-point lead over Odd Down Reserves with a 4-2 home victory over Ilminster Town.

Fry Club took an early lead courtesy of a Liam Osborne penalty against Paulton Rovers Reserves before Dan Davies added a second after 20 minutes to give Malcolm Beck's side a 2-0 victory.
