Sports stars kick off Bristol charity match
Former super middleweight boxing champion Glenn Catley and ex-Bristol Rovers striker David Mehew will join teams from Beaufort Motor Company and the Dick Lovett group. Kick-off is at 6.30pm with a karaoke session after the match in the club house starting at 8pm.
All are welcome and donations can be made on the door.
Mark Jakeways, director of the Beaufort Motor Company, who organised the event, said: "We decided to get together with Dick Lovett to raise money for St Peter's Hospice as we have both had customers who have been cared for and supported by the hospice and think they do an amazing job free of charge.
"We have had a lot of support to organise this event and would like to thank our celebrity players Glen Catley and David Mehew as well as the companies AXA Sports and Social Club, Brights Auto Centre, Snap On Tools, Winterbourne Sign Shop, Partco Autoparts and Lane Pearson."
Sian Rees, corporate fundraising manager for St Peter's Hospice, said: "We're so grateful to Mark and all the players from Beaufort Motor Company and Dick Lovett for organising this event on our behalf, especially as we have just announced the closure of our building in Knowle.
"This was not an easy decision but focusing on our site in Brentry will enable us to provide the same level and volume of services to local people but in a more cost-effective way which will ensure the future of St Peter's Hospice. We need people to continue their support and understanding in these difficult times so we are so very grateful to Mark for raising money on our behalf."
