Two boys were attacked in a street robbery in Downend.

The 16-year-olds were walking along Croomes Hill when they were approached by a group of young men who assaulted them and stole cigarettes from one of them.

Both were punched in the face, one on the jaw, the other on the nose.

The three suspects included a mixed-race boy aged about 17, with black, curly, short hair.

He was about 6ft 4ins tall, wearing a black track-suit.

The second suspect was white, about 18 years old, 5ft 10ins tall, of stocky build, wearing a grey hooded top and yellow rosary beads.

The third was a white man with a big jaw. He had short, brown hair brushed forward, sunken/dark eyes, a muscular build, was 16 to 17 years old, and wearing a blue T-shirt and dark jeans.

Avon and Somerset police spokesman Steve Game said: "There may have been as many as 20 young people, including males and females, and a black car with females occupants, nearby at the time. Afterwards, a young female returned a shoe one of the victims had lost."

The robbery occurred on Thursday, August 27, at about 9.45pm.

Witnesses should call CID at Staple Hill police station on 0845 4567000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
