Review of North Somerset parish boundaries

Thursday, July 30, 2009, 07:00

PHASE two of a review into parish boundaries is being carried out in North Somerset.

Since February last year, North Somerset Council has had responsibility for carrying out community governance reviews under the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007.

The review looks at parish boundaries and parish council electoral arrangements in the district. It also examines the provision of any parish council wards and allocated numbers of parish councillors.

As part of the review process, the council is inviting submissions for any changes to, or in support of the retention of the existing arrangements.

Part two of the review will look at the following parishes: Banwell, Blagdon, Bleadon, Burrington, Churchill, Congresbury, Hutton, Kewstoke, Locking, Loxton, Puxton, St Georges, Weston-super-Mare, Wick St Lawrence, Winscombe and Sandford.

It will also look at the results from the first part of the review in the parishes of Backwell, Easton-in-Gordano, Portbury, Winford, Wrington and Yatton.

Tony Lake, North Somerset Council executive member, said: "We want to hear from people with suggestions for changes or improvements to the current arrangements. The closing date for comments is noon on Thursday, September 24."

Copies of the review documents can be seen at libraries at Weston and Worle or from the Electoral Services team on 01934 634 903.
