Keynsham crowned Sunday champs after thrilling win
The Ks, who have remained unbeaten all season, appeared to be on the verge of defeat after slumping to 127-8 chasing 187 to win, despite Matt Hill scoring 33 and Mark Branton contributing 30.
But James Whetton and James Gerrish put on a vital 47 runs for the ninth wicket, Whetton hitting 35, before the last pair scrambled the remaining 13 runs, with victory coming off the fourth ball of the last over.
Nicky Pang continued his good run of form for Midsomer Norton with 48, while Keynsham's promising young fast bowler Sam Pollinger took three wickets.
Chew Magna's hopes of finishing runners-up were ended by an 84-run defeat at second-placed Hampset.
Skipper Alex Lear top-scored with 42 as the home side posted 241, while Iain Locke took 3-36 for Chew. Despite Andy Whitcombe's 49, the visitors struggled to keep up with the required run-rate of six an over and they were all out for 157. Alex Davis continued his recent good form with 3-19.
Brislington climbed clear of the foot of the table after demolishing Bath by 153 runs. Courtney Forrest hit a superb 104 in the Ironmoulders' total of 242 and Clive Peters snapped up 5-17 as Bath were dismissed for just 89.
There is no change at the top of Division I where leaders Whitchurch extended their unbeaten record with a thumping 170-run victory over Keynsham II.
Rob Bailey's 137 was the cornerstone of their total of 283-7, while youngster Luke Cooper chipped in with 45. Les Hubbard took 3-42 for Keynsham.
The Ks had no answer to the bowling of Ben Jefferies, who claimed 6-17 as they were skittled out for 113, Matt Hubbard top-scoring with 36.
Headley Park remain in second place after beating Frome by 10 runs. Brendan Sheppard cracked 80 out of Park's total of 208 before Frome were bowled out for 198.
Clevedon Toucans' opening bowler Mike Purnell produced the best figures in either Conference this summer – 8-24 – as Saltford Fairway, who had been set 272 to win, were hustled out for just 63.
John Sansum cracked 78 off just 64 balls for Clevedon, while Ian Harrington and Alan Bakrania both hit 36.
In Division II, second-placed Chew Stoke suffered a shock nine-wicket defeat at bottom-of-the-table Kilmersdon. The Stokers were shot out for 101 and the home side took full advantage to claim their first win of the summer.
Gareth Despres hit 59 as Old England Bristol Sikhs beat The Star (Bath) by six wickets. The Star made a decent start but Sajeed (4-9) and Sai (3-3) transformed the game and they were all out for 129.
Filton Wayfarers look nailed on for promotion from Division III after a seven-wicket win at bottom club Easton Cowboys. The home side were limited to 92-9 in 40 overs, Jeff Wilson and Allan Cotterell each taking three wickets. Filton slipped to 16-3, but an assured 49 not out by Tom Milsom saw Wayfarers home.
Second-placed Old Bristolians Westbury slipped to a two-run defeat against relegation-threatened Exiles (Bath). Exiles were dismissed for 128, Zed Singh taking 4-23.
Third-placed Barrow Gurney failed to take advantage, losing by 142 runs against Harptree Village. Set 180 to win, they crashed to 37 all out. Left-arm medium paceman Rich Jefferies, opening the bowling for the Harps, finished with three wickets from six overs, all of them maidens, while 16-year-old Tom Hogarth weighed in with four wickets for five runs.
Blagdon gave their survival hopes a boost with victory by 19 runs at home to Failand & Portbury.
James Hemmings top-scored with 53 as Blagdon made 131-7 before dismissing their opponents for 112.
Churchways' home game against Grendel ended in a tie.
The Chessmen, chasing 124 to win, appeared well set at 102-3 before Joe Hepworth took 5-5 to transform the game.
Bristol Bangladeshis maintained their lead at the top of Division IV with a 20-run win over Bristol Indians to end the visitors' promotion hopes.
Cherag Agarwal took 5-24 as the Indians were dismissed for 193, Vivak Patel top-scoring with 67. Tejas took the batting honours for the leaders with 57.
Hugh Gregor, who is in his early seventies, took four wickets for seven runs in 25 balls for Winford II as they dismissed Easton Cowboys II for 98 to clinch a 20-run win.
