66 shelter homes set to open in Bishopsworth
Waverley Gardens is Brunelcare's new flagship site in Queens Road. The scheme has been designed with elderly people in mind, many of whom suffer from dementia.
It includes 28 one-bedroom and 38 two-bedroom flats. Of these 55 are available for rent, and the remainder are for purchase on a shared ownership basis.
The site also includes a restaurant, communal lounge, a shop, hairdressing salon, therapy suite, IT room and advice centre. The secure communal gardens are landscaped to provide a variety of activities and seating.
A preview of the site was offered to local residents, trustees and friends of the charity, and local housing and social workers. Visitors were given a guided tour and shown a presentation.
CEO at Brunelcare Helen Joy said, "The population in the South West is ageing faster than most other regions in the UK and with this comes an increase in the number of people living with dementia.
"Very Sheltered Housing represents just one of the housing options for older people requiring some level of care and support, enabling them to continue to live independently.
"Waverley Gardens will offer the latest thinking in design, and provide a safe and comfortable home."
