We're better out wide but the lack of Bristol City home wins is worrying

A Seventh draw from 11 home games is a worrying statistic and whilst there were signs of improvement against Swansea City, there is still a lot of work to do.

Gary Johnson predicted goals before the game and couldn't see it being a goalless draw. Perhaps Gary should leave the predictions to others.

Cole Skuse was recalled to the starting line-up and Ivan Sproule was named in the starting eleven. Prior to the game Johnson said that he was planning to play with width and that the team had worked hard all week on getting crosses into the box. In fairness there was some evidence of that and Sproule had a reasonable game.

Gary Johnson wasn't influenced by sentiment and as a result Lee Trundle had to be content with a place on the bench. I have a lot of time for Lee Trundle and I think his attitude during a difficult time for him has been excellent. If you watch Lee before the game and at half time, he is very encouraging to his team-mates.

With an injury to Dele Adebola, Stern John was chosen to partner Nicky Maynard up front. Reports have stated that John could be available on the cheap when the transfer window opens next month.

Personally, I don't think that the Trinidad and Tobago striker is the answer. Whilst having our best chances, John failed to score and too often was wandering around with shoulders hunched.

But as has been said many times, our biggest problem is the supply to the strikers and with the right service Maynard, Trundle, Adebola and Akinde will score goals.

The money that John would command in wages would for me be better spent on other signings. The same has to be said of Andy Webster.

The recall of Cole Skuse was a surprise to some and I actually thought he had a good game and worked hard throughout. The energy and additional pace he brought to the midfield made a difference.

Sproule also brought something extra to the side.

The other main talking point of the game was whether the ball had crossed the line, following Marvin Elliott's header on 58 minutes. From my view, in the Atyeo, it looked in.

There are no easy games in the Championship but the next week will be tough for City with away trips against Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday.
