Burglars tie up man in Bristol pub and steal Poppy collection tin

Burglars in Bristol have tied up a man at knifepoint in a pub and stole a Poppy Appeal collection tin.

The 19-year-old was asleep upstairs at The Apple Tree in Phillip Street, Bedminster when he was woken at about 3am by a man armed with a knife, police said.

The man was forced to go downstairs and let another man and a woman in through the front door.

The three searched the pub, including opening the safe, and stole a substantial amount of money, a quantity of coins, a bottle of liqueur and the Poppy Appeal tin from the bar.

They then took the man back upstairs and tied his arms and legs with electric cable.

He managed to free himself after about half an hour and called the police. He was not hurt but was badly shaken by the experience, officers said.

The man with the knife was described as white, 6ft tall and of slim build, aged between 25 and 30 with short dark, greasy and messy hair.

The second man is also white, 6ft tall and of stocky build, aged between 25 and 30 and wearing a grey Lonsdale top with the hood up.

The woman was described as white, 5ft 4ins, also of stocky build and wearing a white top with the hood up.
