Gilroy signs on loan for Weston from Newport
Weston-super-Mare manager Andy Gurney has signed former Bath City striker David Gilroy on a month's loan from Blue Square South rivals Newport County in a bid to boost his side's goal power.
Gilroy goes straight into the side for tomorrow's vital home clash against fellow-strugglers Lewes, who are a point behind 20th-placed Weston.
But the Seagulls have lost the servies of Ashan Holgate, who played more than 50 games for them in two spells. Holgate has joined unbeaten league leaders Newport on a two-year contract.
Striker Josh Klein-Davis, who signed for Weymouth a couple of months ago, has rejoined Weston, while fellow forward Josh Llewellyn has moved in the opposite direction on a month's loan.
Earlier in the week, Gurney made an approach to Southern League Tiverton Town in a bid to sign former Forest Green Rovers and Paulton Rovers midfielder Ben Cleverley but was turned down.
Marc McGregor, who has been suffering from a hamstring injury, faces a fitness test ahead of tomorrow's game.
Weston (from): Sawyer, Green, Parinello, Harris, Evans, Fortune, Bartlett, Mullins, Joyce, Compton, Gilroy, Wells, Sleam, Brown, McGregor, Klein-Davis.
● Bath City have a home game against Basingstoke, who boast an unbeaten away record.
