Junior rugby round-up: Barton Hill Under-14s emerged 41-36 victors against Bristol Saracens in a thrilling match that could have gone either way.

Centre Keadian Anderson turned in a man-of-the-match performance, racking up six tries for the Speedwell club. Lock Sam Cook grabbed Barts' other try and the three successful conversions were shared between Matt Nichols, Liam Noble and James Broad.

Sarries' star man was scrum-half Jake Moseley, who helped himself to a hat-trick of tries. No 8 Ben Waterman collected a brace and centre Les Collison also grabbed a try. Fly-half Ryan Winters landed three conversions for the Henbury side.

Cheddar Under-14s extended their unbeaten run to four games and recorded their first-ever shut-out when they dismantled Old Redcliffians 40-0 in difficult weather conditions.

The scoreline didn't really reflect the game as the Old Reds competed for every ball and had their chances. The home side had the edge up front, though, and produced plenty of good ball for the three-quarters to run with.

Cheddar ran in six tries through full-back Dan Crane (2), fly-half Stan Smith (2), scrum-half Scott Franklin and centre Connor Baker, with Smith landing five out of six conversions.

Reds fared better in their Under-17s Combination Cup match, squeezing past Cleve 5-0. Paddy Colfer's try gave Reds a ticket into the next round.

Whitehall Under-14s were leading 5-0 against a much bigger Broad Plain side when the game was abandoned after visiting No 8 Ashley Males sustained a neck injury. He was taken to hospital for assessment but later released with a clean bill of health.

The home side's all-important try was scored by Ashton Pullin after some good build-up play from Carter Loveridge, who again turned in a five-star display for the Speedwell side.

Combination Cup holders St Mary's Under-14s were comfortable 35-7 winners at home to Cleve.

Mary's booked their place in the next round of this season's competition on the back of tries by the outstanding Davey Wilkinson-Lessels (2), Luke Bishop (2) and Jake Polledri.

St Mary's Girls Under-15/18 group came unstuck 46-0 against their well-drilled Worcester counterparts but stuck to their task gamely.

Frampton Cotterell Under-13s travelled to Clevedon in the first round of the Combination Cup and returned triumphant after claiming a 46-10 victory.

Flanker Kyle Sheppard, who was the pick of the pack for Frampton, led the way with two tries. Other touchdowns came from Ben Puddy (2), Alex England, Dan Spalding, Dan Williamson and Ellis Joseph.

Dan Rodwell (1) and James Knight (2) added conversions, while scrum-half Henry Wiggins ran the show for the North Bristol side.

Kingswood and Chipping Sodbury combined to field a joint Under-16s team to take on Aretians but went down 15-12 in an evenly-fought contest.
