Vote: Which was your favourite Banksy exhibit at Bristol Museum?

Wednesday, September 02, 2009, 07:00

They have drawn visitors to Bristol from across the world, now we want to know which of the pieces in the Banksy vs Bristol Museum exhibition was your favourite.

We have selected a shortlist of 18 of the most striking pieces and now turn it over to Evening Post and thisisbristol readers to vote for the one which caught their attention.

The top six in our poll will be reproduced in the the Evening Post next week as posters to collect and keep.

So was it the burnt-out ice cream van that greeted visitors to the museum's lobby, or perhaps the lion with the tamer's whip in his jaws?

Maybe you, as many did, stared for ages at the painting of the chimps in Parliament, marvelling at the different facial expressions of the primates lined up on the benches.

The lifelike monkey sitting in his cage sighing as he painted was picked out as a highlight of the animatronic section, and the cheeky gesture of Banksy painting over the art donated by Damien Hirst, with a trademark rat applying the broad brush strokes, also made fans smile.

Ronald McDonald's appearance on the ledge over the entrance was a late addition to the collection but gave those in the queue something to look at as they counted down to their chance to enter the exhibition.

It caused controversy in America but the fur coat draped to look like a leopard in a tree stopped people in their tracks, as did the slightly sinister ageing Tweety Pie, barely keeping his eyes open as he sat on his perch.

The artwork amended by Banksy included the easyJet poster offering a discount to Cairo to Mary and Joseph and an agricultural worker taking a fag break. And there was a treasure trove of small pieces in the studio section on the ground floor, including a pixilated self portrait and dozens of Banksy's works of art.

Vote using the online poll on this page and pick your favourite.
