Scouts' Christmas post raises £1,000

Sunday, February 22, 2009, 18:18

Nailsea and Backwell Scouts' annual Christmas post service raised £1,000 for good causes.

Youngsters from the 1st Nailsea, 2nd Nailsea and Backwell scout groups run the festive post service each year, charging 15 pence for delivery within the local area.

Last year, scouts and volunteers covered 60 rounds to ensure 10,000 cards reached their destination.

The scout group teamed up with Pring and Co Estate Agents, which covered the cost of printing the stamps and meant all the money raised went to good causes.

The money raised was split between the scout groups to fund their activities.

A donation of £100 was also given to Nailsea Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre.

The cheque was presented to MS Centre representative Androulla Karinicola at a special skittles evening held to thank all the posties who help run the service.
