Three people have been arrested after a street fight in Bedminster, Bristol
The arrested men, aged 28, 22 and 18, were in custody for questioning this afternoon. All three are from Bristol.
Two of the injured men were taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary to have their injuries treated.
One man was said to be in a serious condition, although his injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
It is understood that one of the victims may be the pub's landlord.
Police were unable to shed any light on any motive for the incident.
Part of West Street was closed overnight and remained shut this morning to allow for scenes of crimes officers to search the area. It has since reopened.
This morning, the police cordon stretched from the junction with Hengaston Street to Palmyra Road.
Police officers were at either end directing traffic and pedestrians away from the area. Bus routes were also affected.
The road has now reopened.
Residents living in the area told how they had heard a fracas at about 8pm yesterday and then again at about midnight.
One woman who lives nearby, but asked not to be named, said: "The second time it happened I was in bed. I woke up to hear a lot of shouting.
"From where I am I couldn't see anything, but it sounded like something big was happening."
Many residents on their way to work on Monday morning were unaware that anything had happened.
Martin Dunscombe, an Avon and Somerset police spokesman, said: "There was fighting in the area outside The Three Lions Pub, which we believe involved about 12 people
"A total of five people have so far come forward to tell us that they were injured, but there could be more.
"A couple of people were taken to hospital. One man had serious injuries but they are not life threatening.
"We are continuing to speak to the victims to establish how the injuries were caused."
Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
