Two men were arrested after three attempted break-ins at cash machines in Bristol.

The first reported incident was at 12.30am yesterday at a NatWest bank hole-in-the-wall machine outside Asda at Longwell Green.

Someone reported that a gang wearing balaclavas was trying to force open the machine.

The gang failed but caused extensive damage to the machine which will cost an estimated £25,000 to replace.

There were also attempted break-ins at cash machines at a Tesco supermarket in Horfield and at another Tesco store in Callington Road, Brislington.

Police said all three incidents were linked.

Officers arrested two Bristol men aged 20 and 21 on suspicion of being involved in the incidents.

They were spotted near Tesco in Callington Road last night and were taken to a police station for questioning.
