Rowlands takes the spoils again

John Rowlands notched his second club match win on the trot with a 38-7-0 catch of carp in the Ridgeway & District AC match, fished on Woodlands Lake at Trinity Waters, near Bridgwater.

He fished both a straight lead and a pellet waggler with a 6mm banded pellet at 30 metres off peg 24 and weighed in carp to almost 6lb.

Martin Pettifer beat Geoff Challenger to second place by just 12oz. Pettifer long-poled pellet off peg 27 for 30-12-0 of skimmers, tench and carp, while Challenger fished the same at 30 for a similar 30-0-0.

● Bristol's Paul Gowing short-poled soft 6mm pellet into the lakeside margins of peg six and a 17-12-0 mix of silvers and carp was enough to clinch the Alcove AC match fished at The Clamps, Henfield.

Ian Chapple, the match sectretary, beat Steve Dawson to second place by exactly 1lb. Chapple fished the same as the winner at peg 14 for a 13-12-0 mixed bag, while Dawson used both long pole and waggler tactics with maggot at 15 to tempt a similar 12-2-0.

● Peg four on the Old Lake came up with a 32-5-0 win for Dave Farnham in the Kingswood Disabled & Over-55s Midweek match, fished at Westerleigh Lakes.

He poled maggot both at 10 metres centre and into the lakeside margins for 22lb of carp to almost 7lb and a 10-5-0 mixed bag of silvers.

Pete Powe came second and topped the New Lake scoresheet at peg 33, where paste poled over a micro pellet feed into both island and lakeside margins attracted 27-5-0 of mostly carp.

● Bob 'The Bread' Price poled paste into the lakeside margins of Withy Pool 43 and made it two wins on the trot with a seven-carp catch totalling 52-6-0 in last week's Bathampton AA Disabled & Over-55s match, fished at Hunstrete.
