Ford closes the gap

Chris Ford moved to within a point of league leader Mark Bellringer after they finished first and second respectively in the third and fourth rounds of the Leigh Wakefield Series of Six, fished on the same day at Boyd Valley Lake, Bitton.

In round three, Ford fished a banded 8mm pellet shallow beneath a waggler tight to the island off peg five and weighed in 24-8-0 of carp plus a 3 9-0 mixed bag of silverfish. In round four he was behind Bristol Water team-mate Bellringer by just 11oz. Bellringer fished a waggler and an 8mm hair-rigged pellet tight to the island off peg 11 for a 38-6-0 mixed bag while Ford fished the same tactics at 14 metres off 7 for 37-11-0.

Results – round 3: 1, Chris Ford (Bristol Water) 28-1-0, peg 5: 2, Kev Murch 24-2-0, peg 4; 3, Leigh Wakefield 20-14-0, peg 2; 4, J R Pinkett 18-1-0. Round 4: 1, Mark Bellringer (Bristol Water) 38-6-0, peg 11; 2, Chris Ford 37-11-0, peg 7; 3, J R Pinkett 31-5-0, peg 4; 4, Adrian Dennis 23-12-0, peg 10. League: 1, Mark Bellringer 42pts; 2, Chris Ford 41; 3= J R Pinkett and Kev Murch, both 39; 5, Leigh Wakefield 31.
