Fiesta of fireworks in Easter Compton

Thursday, October 15, 2009, 07:00

More than £2,000 worth of fireworks will be let off when Easter Compton stages its annual Bonfire Night fiesta.

Organisers have pledged a stunning show at the village playing field, near Almondsbury, with more impressive fireworks being included in the display as a result of extra training for those lighting them.

Spokesman Richard Jones said: "For the first time, because of intensive training, category four fireworks will be let off. These are the ones used in professional displays and are similar to those seen on Sydney Harbour Bridge."

The event has been organised by Easter Compton's village hall committee and its carnival sub-group.

It takes place on Thursday, November 5, with the bonfire being lit at 6.30pm. The fireworks will start to be let off at 7pm. Tickets cost £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for children.
