Captain Andy Edwards from Bristol has just arrived in Afghanistan to join the British forces.
Andy, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer with 33 Engineer Regiment, will be finding and disposing of improvised explosive devices planted by the Taliban.
He said: "I think the next six months is going to be very, very challenging.
"As long as I get out on the ground and I can make a difference. We are here to save lives."
