Zoo farm gets really wild with tigers
A pair of tigers will be arriving at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm in Wraxall next week.
The two six-year-old female Tigers, Kushkja and Tira, will inhabit the £200,000 Tiger Territory, which includes five separate dens all housed inside a one-acre enclosure. Then they will meet the four-year-old male Tanvir, who arrives a few weeks later, outside in their enclosure. Visitors will be able to get up close to the animals from the open-air viewing platforms which will be at eye level with the tiger's 15ft-high basking platforms.
This, as well as the huge viewing windows into the tiger's indoor space, will allow visitors to get up close to the big cats while remaining at a safe distance.
Head keeper, Chris Wilkinson, said: "The new enclosure is packed full of tiger toys to ensure our new arrivals are provided with environmental enrichment – toys such as 10ft scratching posts, play balls and diving boards where the Tigers will be able to jump into their 5ft deep swimming pools.
"Tigers are excellent climbers so we have also constructed 15ft-high climbing towers aimed at encouraging the Tigers to use all their skills.
"In the 10 years we have been running as a zoo, tigers are the most ferocious arrivals we have had at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm and it is very exciting."
Noah's Ark staff have been working closely with local police to ensure security around the new enclosure is as comprehensive as possible, with all staff members receiving specialised training.

“Come on BEP, please investigate the supernatural clams the owners of this "zoo" are trying to put over as fact.”
