Youngsters fly the flag for new dance activity
A NEW youth group has held a showcase event to put its talents on display.
The South West Winterguard Academy, which is based in Bradley Stoke, offers youngsters the chance to take part in an activity called Colourguard - a dance-based activity using flags and other equipment, to perform a routine to music as part of a team to compete in competitions.

They performed at Patchway Sports Centre at the weekend, alongside other groups including Fahrenheit Dance Studios X-Plode, Ballet Bristol, Bowsland Green Gymnastics Club and Bristol Harlequins.
As well as the performances members of the academy served up cakes and refreshments as well as running a raffle and craft stalls.
Ken Burrows, spokesman for the South West Winterguard Academy, said: "Well done to everyone for making our showcase such a great success. We had an assortment of quality acts for our VIP guests to view and with a great turn out of parents and friends it made it a brilliant show with such a warm and friendly atmosphere.
"It was great that the community who had supported us and local councillors could see how funding for the group has been used."
Yesterday the cadets at the academy performed again coming third in the Winterguard UK championships in Filton.
