Young poets write for causes
PUPILS at City Academy Bristol in Redfield are taking part in a national poetry competition being run by a Nigerian children's rights charity.
The contest is being run by Stepping Stones Nigeria and Global Link, which works to educate young people in the UK on how to achieve a just and sustainable world, and will raise money for the two causes.
It is being run over two months as part of a programme of activities marking the 400th anniversary of the Pendle Witch Trials in Lancashire.
Children have been tasked with writing poetry about those who have been persecuted or discriminated against throughout history for the contest, called Stand Up, Stand Out, Speak Up, Speak Out.
